Mondschein Club: Electronic Friday in Stuben am Arlberg

Every Friday in winter, DJs play the vaulted cellar of the Ski Hotel Mondschein in Stuben am Arlberg from 9:30 pm to 2 am. They come from Vienna, Berlin, Munich and Regensburg, and they play a sound system built for precision. You don’t need a reservation, and you don’t need a room at the hotel.

Mortal Kombat Sound from Regensburg has been part of the Longboard Classic on the Arlberg for many years. On the Friday of the Longboard weekend, the crew plays the traditional Closing Night, the last Electronic Friday of this season.

Behind the decks stands a wall of big round speakers. A colourful, cosmic projection runs across the wall between them, and more round speakers glow underneath.

The system was built for sound quality, with no compromise. It brings the precision and depth of a recording studio to the dance floor: the kick pushes, and every detail above it stays clear.

One Friday down here is a good reason to hit the slopes a little later on Saturday.

Pioneers and the next generation on the same decks

Scheibosan has been playing since the 1980s, at Bar 25 and Kater Holzig in Berlin and at Flex and Grelle Forelle in Vienna.

Solvane is resident at Ritter Butzke in Berlin and has played Burning Man. Functionist hosted FM4 Unlimited for a long time, and Stefan Obermaier has worked with Richard Dorfmeister for years.

You would normally travel to Berlin or Vienna for names like these. Here you walk downstairs after a day on the slopes. The Mondschein Club runs on its own frequency.

New Year’s Eve with Bedrud, season finale with Mortal Kombat Sound

Bedrud from Munich is a familiar name in the cellar and returns for three nights: 25 December, New Year’s Eve and 8 January.

On 2 April the Longboard Classic weekend is under way on the Arlberg. Mortal Kombat Sound from Regensburg have been part of it for many years and play the Closing Night, the last Electronic Friday of the season.

Bar upstairs, bed in the same building

The bar and fireplace lounge upstairs stays open until 2:30 am on Fridays, half an hour longer than the club. Arrive early and start there.

Guests of the Ski Hotel sleep in the same building, and the Arlberg Motel is right next door. The next morning, the Albonabahn I is a three to four minute walk away.
