Woodstock of Snowboarding

The World’s Biggest Longboard and Old School Snowboard Event

Who would have thought during the first Longboard Classic that this event still
stokes snowboarders 18 years on?! The once small event was created based on
having fun snowboarding. It has grown into the world’s largest snowboard race in
terms of attendance. A yearly growing number snowboarders make the pilgrimage
to the Arlberg to become part of the “Woodstock of Snowboarding”! Snowboard
legends from all corners of the world love it as much as snowboard pioneers and
today’s groms!

This video has been recorded by Jamiroquai in 1994 in Stuben. Have a look!

Chuck Barfoot in Mondscheins Old Gaststube is talking about the Story of the Snowboarding Revolution…

The race  begins with a Le-Mans-style mass start on the Albona Ridge up on 2,408 meters of altitude. The participants battle for the titles LBC Masters, Old School and No School. However, it is not so much about making it onto the podium as it is about meeting old friends, making new ones and enjoy
snowboarding together with like-minded people. That’s the essence of the LBC.
This year we are particularly happy to welcome Chuck Barfoot from Santa Barbara/USA to
the Longboard Classic. Back in the late 1970s Chuck regularly surfed with Tom Sims and
built his own boards. Chuck is one of the four Godfathers of Snowboarding
next to Jake Burton, Tom Sims and Dimitrij Milovitch.
